Yesterday at 10:50 a.m. there was a tragic accident on the intermediate ski hill at Blue Mountain. She was a girl from London,17, and was identified as Elisabeth Reurink. She skied off to the side of the open slope which was near the bottom of a hill. She was known as a girl who was academically gifted who was an athlete and always created positive energy. She also had dreams of becoming a veterinarian when she grows up. Collingwood OPP says that she collided into a tree, but unlike the 13 year old Korean visa student who died a little bit ago. She was wearing a helmet. This accident was the third accident on Ontario slopes. The conditions though were good.
"Friend Christina Chehade remembered Reurink, a student at London's Catholic Central High School, as a rosy-cheeked young woman with a bright future.
"She was an amazing student ... achieved high rankings in both cross-country (running) and wrestling, an amazing friend, always had a smile on her face and would laugh no matter how lame my jokes were," she said yesterday. Reurink maintained a 90-plus average, she said."
Last Sunday, a 45 year old man died at Beaver Valley Ski Club , which is 30 kilometers southwest of Collingwood. His name was John Zsolt, who was also an experienced snowboarder also fell and crashed into a tree with a helmet on.
In my opinion, if you're not good enough to ski, then don't. But if you are, there is always still a risk so always know what you are doing. These people clearly did not know what they were doing especially that 13 year old Korean boy. Skiers and snowboarders should be more careful of what they doing, and if they are inexperienced then just stay on the bunny hill.

I could not agree more with your opinion on the tradegy. It's very hard to hear that this happend at a place I go up to every single weekend. If your not good enough for the steeper hills stay on the easier ones. Had it been a advanced skier this would of saddened me more. THe reason being is because the girl knew she couldnt ski and made that decision to go on a harder hill.
