Outlaw bikers and street gangs were the center of attention as approximately 700 police officers did a sweeping operation aimed at busting cocaine trafficking networks in Montreal and Ottawa. As of noon, police had arrested 40 people, including two who were oringinally in prison. One in Kingston the other in Laval, Quebec. Police say that up to 100 suspects could be picked up as a result of operation Axe, and this investigation began in 2006. This involved up to 700 police officers, 500 from Montreal and 200 from Ottawa, the RCMP, the SQ and Laval and Longueuil police services." Lafreniere said charges will include drug trafficking and gangsterism.

In my opinion, they should be doing this ALL the time. Drugs are huge in our society. Starting from as young as thirteen, there has been many cases where drug dealing was in place. It happens in schools, on the streets, and parties. It's virtually impossible to catch all the suspects of drug dealing, but there is definately more than 40 people. Forty only says the number that they caught, but really how many more are out there? It's something that the police will probably never catch on to.
