As many know, York University has been on strike for quite a while now. The reason that they are on strike is because of the job security for the teachers. The faculty feel that they do not have enough job security, and therefore they have to work harder in order to keep up and not lose their job. In result of this strike, the students are not able to go to classes and it will be harder for the graduate students to get their degree, and for all the others to finish their year. The projected time of this strike is 11 weeks. The parents have been complaining, and the students are panicking. But... is there a bright side to this? Yes, there is. A young student named Sky Fairchild-Waller, 21, a fourth year dance student has taken this lockout as something positive and this allowed him to devote time to other ventures. He has used his free time to try to pick some jobs that will put his dancing skills into hand and earn some money. Now that he has found some work and time in this lockout, he got a role in the stage version of the hit movie High School Musical 2 , which will make its Canadian debut at the Toronto Centre of the Arts in March. Another student with the name Laura Kelly,24, a fourth year music student has used her free time to work on her singing for the upcoming performance at the formal dinner for the Order of Ontario this weekend.

In my opinion, I think that this has actually helped a lot of York University students, but at the same time will factor in on whether they will complete their year and/or graduate properly. Instead of panicking and worrying about this strike and how it will affect their year, I think that the students should actually relax a little bit and figure out some things that they could do in order to help themselves, or simply enjoy and take a break. What those two kids did was great, because they have actually looked outside the box and found the options that they think are good for them. Even though they are worried about their degrees, they are probably happier because of the opportunities they got. So in conclusion, not everything about this lockout is bad. This lockout has actually let some students open up some options for their future.

i agree that the time off will help some kids but it will make things very tough for the people graduating
