"For the sake of our security, our economy and our planet, we must have the courage and commitment to change," Obama said in his first formal event in the ornate East Room of the White house.

"It will be the policy of my administration," he said, "to reverse our dependence on foreign oil while building a new energy economy that will create millions of jobs."
California along with 12 other states have decided to think of tougher emission standards.
In my opinion, I think that what Barack Obama is doing is the first step for him to be a succesfull president. One of the biggest issues in the world right now, is global warming. Al Gore a couple years ago in his movie/lecture called, " An Inconvenient Truth" discussed very in depth on this matter. Obama wants to start by saving the ozone layer and the environment and is good that he is standing up to the plate. America is also one of the top countries in the world that let off the most emission, and after he sets up these tougher emission standards, I think that alot of other countries will follow along with him. Not only is Barack Obama one step up of saving and improving America, he is also one step up in changing the world.
